Meet the Boudreaux's

Hello!  My name is Joy Boudreaux and this is my first blog post for Red Birds.  I’m very happy and proud to be a part of this ministry, but I’m sorry to have to meet you under these circumstances.  We are all a part of Red Birds for one single reason: we are parents of loss and lets be honest, if we had the choice, we wouldn’t be here. we are. And since we’re here, I figure we may as well make the best of it, so...lets get started, shall we?

Here are a few things to know about me before we go too far.

  1. I’m 43 and I’m married to an incredible man, who happens to also be an insanely gorgeous man who (NO KIDDING) looks like a combination of Sean Connery and Pierce Brosnan.  Seriously! I’ll find a picture.

  2. We have a large family: 15 total; 5 in Heaven - 3 boys, 2 girls; 10 living - 6 boys, 4 girls.  No we didn’t plan it. Yes, I homeschool them. No, I’m not crazy (yet), nor am I a living saint, although I have been told that I would have made an excellent queen during the middle ages because of all the kids we have, in particular so many ‘male heirs’.

  3. I’ve had two 1st trimester miscarriages, given birth to stillborn twin boys, and buried an 8 month & 6 day old daughter.

  4. Our ‘big twins’ are almost 11 and our ‘little twins’ would be almost 10.  They were back to back sets of identical twin boys.

  5. I like reading, hand-embroidery, gardening, and writing.  And, not to brag, but I’m kinda good at all of them. Except gardening.  Unless you count growing weeds. I’m EXCELLENT at growing weeds.

  6. I speak sarcasm.  Fluently. However, its never intended to hurtful or offensive.  To the best of my ability, I only use sarcasm for comic relief. I firmly believe, though, that a sarcasm type-font would be quite useful to prevent misunderstandings.

  7. I was diagnosed and continue to struggle with anxiety, depression and PTSD.  Daily.

  8. Anything I write is based on my own experiences, the world as I see it through the filter and lenses of my losses.

  9. I don’t aim to preach, offend, placate or ‘platitude’ anyone that may read these words.

  10. I am Catholic.  I live by and practice my faith to the best of my abilities.  I am imperfect, flawed, fallible, and broken. I’m a sinner. But My Lord loves me anyway.

This is my husband.  See what I mean?  Sean Connery beard, Pierce Brosnan hair.
