Day of Reflection

  • Church of the Epiphany 11001 Hanson Boulevard Northwest Coon Rapids, MN, 55433 United States (map)

International Bereaved Mother’s Day is a day of remembrance and support for mothers who have lost a child. It is observed on the first Sunday of May each year. This day acknowledges the profound grief of losing a child, no matter the circumstances. All mothers who have experienced the loss of a child (from pregnancy through adulthood) are invited to attend the Bereaved Mother’s Day Brunch for the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis. This event, hosted at the Church of The Epiphany in Coon Rapids on Saturday May 2, is an opportunity for mothers to honor the lives and memories of their children who have died. Click here to register.

This event creates a space for bereaved mothers to share about their children who have died, and to find comfort in the presence of others who understand what it means to parent a child who is no longer with us. The morning will begin with the opportunity to attend daily mass at 8am. It will continue at 9am with prayer, fellowship, a meal together, time to share about our departed children and their stories, and a memorial craft activity. The day will end with music and prayer. Whether you are new to your grief journey, or have been carrying your loss for many years, there is a place for you here.

This event is brought to you by the Twin Cities’ Chapter of Red Bird Ministries, the Catholic peer-to-peer bereavement ministry that supports parents who have lost a child (from pregnancy through adulthood).

Registration ends April 25.
