My calling is now to bear witness to God’s plan for your life in surrender and obedience and ask the Holy Spirit to help guide me as I mourn, with open hands and a broken, faithful heart.

As Catholics, we are urged to look to the Holy Family for they are examples of perfection and goodness. Christ shows us how to love thy neighbor and die to self while mama Mary shows us unconditional love and trust in the Lord. Mary and Joseph are models of a true and good marriage, but St Joe wasn’t perfect. What can he show us? He shows us true humility and docility to the Lord. It is because St Joseph is imperfect that I love him so much; he shows us how to be in community with Jesus and Mary.

I spent the morning navigating the crowds, my heart burning within me. My faith is on fire, convinced that He is the answer to my every question, the yoke for my every burden.

When you think about Lent, does it feel as if any more suffering or penance will crush you? At Red Bird, grieving mothers and fathers are entering into this penitential season already carrying an extraordinary cross. It may feel impossible to consider adding one more ounce of suffering. We see you, dear one. May you find encouragement to come as you are, to enter into the desert with Jesus to receive the heart of the Father. We are here. You are not alone.

I am a daddy’s girl. I am very close to my dad. We share the same birthday, and my little Saint’s middle name is after my dad’s. My father and I share such a special bond, so I am struggling with his recent health problems.

Carrying grief is hard, holy work. It has been almost 5 years and I don’t miss my son any less today than I did the day he died. But I have learned to make space for my grief. I have grown and stretched around it, learned so much from it, and become more the woman I am meant to be because of it.

I love the gospel of the paralytic man lowered through the roof, and I decided to pray with Luke’s gospel reading because of its depth. Still, at the end of Matthew’s gospel, he says, “When the crowds saw this, they were struck with awe and glorified God who had given such authority to human beings.”

The Transcendentals are a specific way to describe the natures of man. Because we are made in the image and likeness of God we too mirror his truth, goodness and beauty. You could say that the transcendentals are the ultimate desires of man.

To share in dignity, respect and beauty with the most sacred aspects of Catholicism was truly a privilege. When beginning to do my own research about veiling I simply typed into my search bar “Why do Catholic women veil?” The answer I stumbled upon was that veiling is an external sign of a woman’s interior desire to humble herself before the Lord truly present in the Blessed Sacrament. Wow.
